1. Setting Up a Google Billing Account

To use services such as Google Workspace, Google Maps API, reCAPTCHA, or other Google integrated features on your website, you may need to create and configure a Google Billing Account.

1.1 Sign In to Google Cloud

  1. Go to: https://console.cloud.google.com/
  2. Sign in using your Google account, or create one if needed.

1.2 Create a New Project

  1. Click the project dropdown in the top navigation bar.
  2. Select New Project.
  3. Enter a project name (e.g. Your Website Name).
  4. Click Create.

1.3 Set Up a Billing Account

  1. Go to the Billing section: https://console.cloud.google.com/billing
  2. Click Create Billing Account.
  3. Enter the following:
    • Billing account name (e.g. Your Company Name)
    • Country and currency
  4. Add your payment method (credit card, debit card, or another supported payment method).
  5. Complete the setup process.

1.4 Link the Billing Account to Your Project

  1. In the Billing section, select your newly created billing account.
  2. Click Link a Project.
  3. Choose the project you created earlier.
  4. Confirm the link.

1.5 Enable Required APIs

Depending on your website features, you may need to enable specific APIs.

  1. Go to: https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/library
  2. Search for and enable the services you require, such as:
    • Maps JavaScript API (for maps)
    • Places API
    • reCAPTCHA API

1.6 Set Budget Alerts (Recommended)

To help avoid unexpected charges:

  1. Go to Billing → Budgets & Alerts.
  2. Click Create Budget.
  3. Set a monthly budget (e.g. €10 to €50 depending on expected usage).
  4. Enable email alerts at:
    • 50%
    • 75%
    • 100%

1.7 Important Notes

  • Many Google services offer a free usage tier, and most small to medium websites remain within these limits.
  • Charges only apply if usage exceeds the free allowance.
  • You remain in control of spending through budget alerts and usage quotas.

1.8 Access and Permissions

If Acton BV requires access to assist with setup:

  1. Go to IAM & Admin → IAM.
  2. Add us as a user.
  3. Assign the appropriate role, such as:
    • Editor
    • Billing Viewer
